I Am Gitxsan - Indigenous Documentary
Published on September 9, 2026
I’m reaching out regarding a possible screening of my Indigenous documentary, I AM GITXSAN, in connection with September 30, Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The film was made in direct collaboration with the Gitxsan Hereditary Chiefs, who were part of the process and have formally approved it. It explores Indigenous sovereignty, colonial trauma, youth resilience, and the legacy of residential schools, with commentary from Dr. Gabor Maté.
I AM GITXSAN has received 33 international awards to date, making it one of the most widely recognized Indigenous documentaries to emerge from Canada in recent years.
I would welcome the opportunity to present the film at your institution, followed by a Q&A or discussion with students and the wider community, in person or virtually.
I’ve attached the film synopsis and poster.
If this is of interest, I would be happy to discuss possible dates and arrangements, or provide a confidential, password-protected screening link for your team to view the film.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
In Kindness,
Hossein Martin Fazeli
